Hong Kong Airlines Carry On Baggage Allowance

Hong Kong Airlines Carry On Baggage Allowance

Hong Kong Airlines carry-on baggage allowance permits bags inside flight cabins free of charge. Passengers can carry cabin bags up to 45 inches (22” x 14” x 19”) or 56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm. The weight should be under 7kg or 151 lbs, not more than that. The airline implies quantity restrictions according to purchased class and selected destinations. For instance, Hong Kong Airlines baggage allowance for Economy Class includes one carry bag under the stated weight and size limit. For passengers flying in Business Class, the airline permits two cabin bags.

Stow Cabin Bags on HK Flights

There are two storage places inside flight cabins for carry-ons. You can store heavy cabin bags in the overhead locker and other items under the front seat. We recommend keeping your bags lightweight as you have to lift them to stow them in the compartment. So, keeping the bags under the weight limit is more practical.

However, if the bag is over Japan Airlines baggage allowance, the airline will apply extra charges. You will then have to submit it as checked baggage and pay additional charges. The airline will apply charges whether the checked allowance is used or not.

This ensures that your bags are according to the airline’s restrictions before leaving for the airport.

What’s Included in Cabin Bag Allowance?

Items that you purchase from duty-free shops at the airport are also included in your HK Airlines baggage allowance for cabins. Along with this, you may also carry one small item on board in addition to your cabin bag. It can be a personal item or any one of the following:

  • Small handbag
  • Laptop or laptop bag
  • Camera bag
  • Suitcase
  • Clothing items like jackets or overcoats

Hong Kong Airlines Restrictions On Liquid Flights

As per the Japan Airlines baggage allowance, passengers can bring liquid, aerosol, and gel-based items only up to a certain quantity. You can pack liquid items up to 100 ml quantity in a container of the capacity. These containers should be resealable and leakproof.

Hong Kong Airlines Restrictions

If you require more than one container, you can carry multiple containers and place them in a transparent plastic bag with a volume of up to one liter. At the security check, the staff will ask you to open the bag to check the items thoroughly. In case you are carrying over the permitted limit, you may have to go through the secondary security check. Concerned staff will dispose of the extra or excess baggage of liquid-based items.

Prohibited Items On Board

Before packing your bags, ensure you’re not packing any dangerous or harmful items in any of your bags. Here, we have mentioned a list of prohibited items that you must not keep inside your carry-ons. Such items have the capability to endanger the safety of passengers.

Some items are under certain restrictions. Therefore, if you are carrying such an item, make a call to the airline’s representative to clear out the terms and conditions. You must not contain the following items in your carry-on. If found, the authority will confiscate it.

  • Explosives
  • Flammable, non-flammable, and toxic gasses
  • Flammable liquids
  • Solids or any other substances that are flammable
  • Oxidizing substances
  • Organic peroxides
  • Infectious substances
  • Radioactive material
  • Corrosives
  • Other common goods that are dangerous.
