1. Pets as Check Baggage

• Making a Prior Reservation 

Since the space is limited, ensure to make a reservation at least three days prior to the day of travel. This way, the airline is able to accommodate the maximum number of pets per aircraft. However, making an advance booking does not guarantee acceptance. The airline may decline the transportation due to operation restrictions at any point. 

• Making A Reservation at the Airport:

Ensure you bring your pet inside a suitable cage at the check-in counter and be present at the airport at least 90 minutes before departure. If you arrive late, the airline will not entertain any request for pet travel.  

• Documents and Certificates

Passengers are required to provide specific documents for the acceptance of animals. The airline limits pet transportation to specific breeds and other conditions. For instance, the pet should be accompanied by passengers who are at least 16 years old. You should be able to provide a health certificate for the animal with a rabies vaccination certificate. 

• Cage Restrictions

As per the Air Transat baggage policy, the weight of the container combined with the pet’s weight should be under 45kg or 99 lbs. Moreover, the size of the carrier should not be over 122 cm x 81.3 cm x 89 cm or 48 inc x 32 in x 35 in. If the container is larger, the airline will ship the cage via the cargo department.
