This is why almost every airline offers free baggage allowance to passengers. Like others, Air North is one of the airlines that offers passengers the most flexible baggage allowance. It provides two carry-on luggage facilities so that passengers can travel comfortably.

Passengers must ensure that the Air North cabin baggage size does not exceed an overall dimension of 54 x 22 x 38 cm (21 x 9 x 15 in), and personal item size must be under 41 x 15 x 33 cm. Also, the cabin bag and personal items must fit inside the overhead bin and under the seat in front of you.

For the passengers traveling on ATR 42 routes, the airline offers almost the same baggage policy. 2 number of pieces are allowed to carry inside the cabin with a maximum overall weight of 22 lbs (10 kg). Additionally, the combined overall size dimensions must not exceed 38 x 22 x 28 cm (15 x 9 x 11 in). The airline recommended that the passengers measure and ensure that their bags are under the allowed limit and that they can carry the luggage without any hassle.

Air North checked baggage policy guides passengers in carrying their luggage within the allowed limits and restrictions. The airline clearly states that if there is anything available in the luggage that may cause harm or damage to the aircraft or fellow passengers, it will not be accepted at any cost. Additionally, the overall maximum linear dimensions of checked baggage must not exceed 157 cm (62 in) in size.

The airline offers baggage allowance for two aircraft type and their routes. This includes Boeing 737 and ATR 42 Routes, on which two checked luggage are allowed.  The passengers on Boeing 737 routes can carry luggage with a standard maximum weight of up to 50 lbs (23 kg) per item, and the maximum size must be the same as mentioned above. Things To Remember:

  • Passengers traveling with Air North Airlines (Yukon) must ensure that all the checked bags have an identification tag available.

This can be disheartening for anyone. However, Air North allows Boeing 737 routes passengers to carry any overweight baggage that exceeds 50 lbs (23 kg) of weight up to 70 lbs (32 kg). The airline for this luggage will charge $42-$45.20 for each piece. 32 kg is the maximum allowed weight for any item, and bags weighing more than that will be carried as cargo luggage.

Similarly, ATR 42 routes passengers can carry a combined maximum excess weight of 44 lbs (20 kg). Passengers will have to pay an additional amount of $42-$45.20 for each piece.

Air North Oversized Baggage Allowance

Boeing 737 routes passengers can carry up to 157 cm as a standard checked luggage. Exceeding this limit will result in considering the luggage as oversized, and extra charges will then be payable. The airline allows passengers to carry oversized bags with a maximum linear size dimension of 203 cm by paying a fee of $42.

  • Passengers carrying any extra bag apart from the baggage allowance that is also oversized and overweight.

Air North Baggage Allowance for Special Items

Passengers traveling and carrying some special items are allowed to transport them safely and conveniently. The airline allows passengers to carry their musical instruments, sports equipment, most fragile items, etc. The passengers can carry the items as checked luggage except fragile items to save them from damage or loss. Sports equipment includes items such as Bicycles, Canoes, Kayaks, Shooting equipment, etc.

Sports Equipment

Air North Airlines allows passengers to carry their sports equipment under the restricted limit. The equipment will be carried as checked luggage, and excess baggage fees will be applicable if it exceeds the standard allowed limit for checked luggage. 

Bicycles

If any passenger is carrying their bicycle with them, they must ensure that all the guidelines are followed without fail:

  • Passengers cannot replace the bicycle with any other checked luggage item.
  • The bicycle must be adequately packed in a hard case or box.

Canoes & Kayaks

The airline accepts Canoes and Kayaks depending on the space availability. Passengers must pre-book and check if space is available for the kayak/canoe. Check the below-mentioned points for better clarification:

  • The airline will count each canoe or kayak as one piece of checked luggage.
  • The maximum size dimension allowed as checked baggage must not exceed 300 x 45 x 76 cm (116 x 18 x 29 in).
  • The maximum allowed weight must not exceed 50 lbs (23 kg).

Fragile Items

Air North (Yukon Airlines) recommends all passengers carry fragile, perishable, and valuable items as cabin luggage. Due to the change in temperature, pressure, and other factors, fragile, perishable items may be damaged. This includes wallets, precious jewelry, paintings, etc.

Firearms and Ammunition

Passengers can carry the firearms and ammunition as checked luggage. The airline restricted the item partially. It means that the thing is allowed as checked luggage up to a limit. Remember the below-mentioned points before packaging the firearms and ammunition:

Whether you are a professional musician or doing it for fun, the airline allows you to carry your musical instruments. Air North Airlines may only accept the instrument if it is appropriately packed in rigid packaging and transported as Air North carry-on baggage or checked. Any passenger can carry a small musical instrument as a carry-on luggage. Passengers must ensure the baggage fits inside the overhead bin or under the seat in front. Passengers traveling on Boeing 737 Jets can carry a maximum overall size dimension of 18 x 15 x 9 inches of kennel. For the flights, ATR 42 Turboprops,15 x 11 x 9 in, is the maximum allowed size dimension for the soft-shell kennel. Additionally, ensure the pet comfortably stands and turns around inside the kennel. Remember the below-mentioned points to avoid disapproval:

  • Only one pet is allowed inside a kennel.
  • The airline allows only dogs, cats, and rabbits to travel inside the cabin.
  • Passengers must carry a pet that is at least 8 weeks old.
  • The airline only accepts pets checked in at least 2 hours before the scheduled flight departure.
  • The airline may charge an additional fee of $50-$56.50 to travel with a pet.

Pets As Checked Luggage

The airline accepts pets to travel in a rigid kennel. Passengers can carry them as checked luggage. Follow the below points for quick approval:

  • Passengers can only carry an IATA-approved kennel.
  • Soft-sided kennels are not recommended as checked luggage. 
  • The airline allows passengers to carry a maximum of two pets of the same species in a single kennel, which are used to each other.
  • The overall weight of the kennel must not exceed 12 kg. 
  • Ensure that the cage/kennel is escape-proof and leak-proof.
  • There must be at least 5-8 cm of clearance between the pet’s head and the top of the kennel and adequately ventilated.
  • The airline will not accept a kennel over 34 inch size and 165 lbs in weight.
  • The airline may charge $50-$113 for the pet as checked luggage, depending on the size of the cage/kennel.
