HK Express Cabin Baggage Policy

Passengers traveling with Hong Kong Airlines can carry up to 2 carry-on items, including one Cabin Bag and a Small Personal item. Small personal items include a laptop bag, purse, or camera bag. Ensure that the Cabin Baggage does not exceed an overall size dimension of 22 x 14 x 9 inches (56 x 36 x 23 cm) and a maximum weight of not more than 7 kg. The cabin luggage must fit under the overhead bin. Additionally, the small personal item must not exceed the dimension of 15.7 x 10 x 8 inches (40 x 25 x 20 cm) and must fit under the seat in front of you. 

Note: Make sure the carry-on bag size is under the restricted limit; otherwise, the airline will consider it checked luggage, and additional charges may apply. 

Restrictions on Liquids

HK Express offers passengers a flexible baggage policy to carry almost all the items they need while traveling. However, various restrictions are imposed on some of the items and must be followed strictly. The same goes for carrying liquids inside the cabin as carry-on items. Here are some key points to remember while traveling with Hong Kong Express Airlines:

• Liquids, gels, and aerosols can be carried as cabin items.
• The items must be kept in 100 ml or lesser volume containers.
• All the containers must be carried inside a transparent, re-sealable plastic bag with a maximum volume of not more than 1 L.
• The larger plastic bag must be presented separately at the security checkpoint. 

HK Express Check In Baggage Allowance

You must know if you are carrying the cabin luggage and bringing some heavy bags. HK Express baggage weight for checked luggage must not exceed 20/25/30/40 kg, depending on the purchased allowance. Also, the airline allows passengers to carry an overall maximum linear size dimension of 62 inches (158 cm). Passengers must know that no single bag must exceed the maximum limit of 32 kg for each bag. Note: Any single baggage weighing more than 32 kg of overall weight and over 62 inches (158 cm) of maximum linear size dimensions may not be accepted by the airlines. However, mobility aids, and medical equipments including wheelchairs are exceptions. 

Additional Baggage Fees

If you are carrying any additional or extra bag other than the baggage allowance given by the airlines, it will be chargeable. Hong Kong Express allows passengers to carry any additional baggage with not more than 20 kg of weight. If not booked or purchased, excess baggage charges will apply on the extra luggage. Excess Baggage Charges

HK Express Airways Special Baggage Allowance

Whether you are a sports enthusiast, a professional sports player, or even carrying any particular items not covered in the standard baggage allowance, you must check the particular baggage policy once. Various items are considered special luggage, including sports equipment and musical and medical instruments. Under some proposed guidelines, items exceeding the checked baggage size and weight limits will be considered special. The airline allows each passenger to carry up to one special baggage, including sports equipment with a maximum weight of not more than 20 kg, which can be purchased through the official website. Musical Instruments

Liquids, Gels, or Aerosols: Toiletries, Liquid medicines, Beverages, Creams & Food items. The items are allowed as checked luggage without any limitations. However, there are some restrictions on carrying it inside the cabin luggage. Check the below-mentioned points to understand:

• Ensure items must not exceed a maximum volume of 100 ml for each container.
• Pack all the containers inside a re-sealable plastic bag with a total capacity of less than 1 L.
• Only 1 plastic bag is allowed for each person.

Alcoholic Beverages: Passengers are allowed to carry beverages that contain alcohol up to a maximum of 70% by volume. Additionally, the liquid must not exceed 5 L, including checked and cabin luggage. 

Insulated Packaging containing Refrigerated Liquid Nitrogen: These items are prohibited to carry as cabin and checked luggage.

Non-radioactive medicinal or Toiletry Articles: These include Hair sprays, perfumes, cleaning products, medicine-containing alcohol, non-flammable, non-toxic aerosols with no subsidiary hazard for sporting or home use, alcohol-based disinfectant and sanitizer products. The airline allows up to a maximum of 2 kg or 2 L for each passenger. Also, any single item must be under 0.5 kg or 0.5 L.

Weapons and Ammunitions: Firearms and Ammunitions are considered as dangerous items, and various restrictions are applied by the airline to carry these items. However, passengers can carry them by following the restrictions: 

• Blunt Instruments: Allowed as Checked Luggage only.
• Explosives and Incendiary Substances and Devices: Strictly banned and not allowed as checked and cabin luggage.
• Guns, Firearms, and Other Devices Discharge Projectile: This is prohibited in cabins and checked luggage.
• Objects with Sharp Points or Sharp Edges: Only allowed inside the checked luggage and banned inside the cabin baggage.
• Stunning Devices: These devices are not allowed as checked or cabin luggage.
• Worker’s Tools: These can only be carried as checked luggage and are banned as cabin items.

Batteries: There are certain restrictions on carrying batteries as well. The batteries are hazardous items if carried in a larger amount than recommended. Check the following:

1. Spare or Loose Batteries: It include lithium batteries, non-spillable batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, and dry batteries for portable electronic devices; spare batteries such as power banks are not allowed inside the checked luggage. 

• You can carry up to 20 spare batteries inside the carry-on luggage; it must not be connected. 
• Also, it must be placed inside a separate plastic bag to avoid any short circuit or damage. 
• Lithium batteries must not exceed 2g of lithium content and must be under 100 Wh. 
• Only 2 non-spillable batteries are allowed for each passenger with a maximum voltage of 12V and 100 Wh.

2. Fuel Cell and Fuel cell cartridges (Spare): These are completely banned as checked and cabin luggage.

3. Large Lithium Batteries Exceeding 160Wh (except Mobility Aids): These are completely banned for both types of luggage.

E-Cigarettes: E-cigarettes are banned inside the checked luggage. Maximum 1 unit per passenger is allowed inside the cabin.

Flammable and Explosive Substances: These items, such as Camping stoves and fuel containers with or without fuel, Internal combustion or fuel cell engines, blue flame lighters, cigar lighters, etc, are completely banned as checked and carry-on luggage, except safety lighters, which are allowed up to 1 piece per passenger.

HK Express Pet Travel Policy

Hong Kong Express baggage allowance doesn’t allow passengers to travel with their pets inside the cabin or as checked baggage. However, there are some other guidelines for the Guide or Assistance Dogs. HK Express will only accept guide dogs inside the cabin if they are inside a kennel or carriage. Passengers must inform the airline at least 72 hours before the scheduled flight departure so that the airline staff can make the required arrangements. All the documents, proofs, certificates, etc., must be available during check-in. Traveling with Infants

A child under 2 years old will be considered an infant. Passengers traveling with their newly born babies are allowed if the child is at least 7 days old. Children aged 2-11 years can travel with a separate seat in the aircraft. However, the airline doesn’t offer any additional discount for infants. Also, children under 2 to 3 years can travel with an adult safety belt, Cares Harness, or a car-type safety seat, and children older than 3 years can travel with an adult safety belt or harness. Some key points to remember while traveling with Infants:

• Infant booking can be made online or by calling the guest care staff 48 hours before the flight departure. 
• The airline will accommodate only a limited number of infants on a flight.  
• Each passenger can only travel with one infant, and the passenger himself must be at least 18 years of age and above. 
• Foldable strollers will be carried as carry-on luggage inside the cabin, and all the carry-on baggage allowance restrictions must be followed. 
• The airline will carry the strollers and car-type safety seats as checked luggage for free.

HK Express Special Assistance

Passengers traveling with a patient or someone with serious medical conditions will be eligible for special medical assistance and exceptions in the baggage allowance. In any case, passengers must inform the airline 7 days before the scheduled flight departure. This is because the guest care team will then make the required arrangements. The airline will not charge extra for the wheelchair, mobility aids, etc., of the passenger. Ensure that the maximum size of the wheelchair must not exceed 55.1 x 55.1 x 43.3 inches (140 x 140 x 110 cm). The maximum allowed weight for the wheelchair and other mobility aids is 150 kg.
